Press Release - by Liberian Mandingoes Union in Israel

It Appears That the War is Far From Over
(Editorial)
When Charles Taylor was forced to flee the country in 2003 as a result of the military pressure from LURD and MODEL, Liberians celebrated and hoped that peace had finally come. But the reality on the ground since then suggests that the war is far from over. Though the guns are silent, some of the main causes of the war are present in our society.

So Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Finally Confesses To Funding The Killing Of Liberians: Can We Forgive Her?
In what commentators consider a sad day in her political campaign, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf recently admitted at a political gathering in Minnesota, USA, that she did support Charles Taylor’s NPFL’s insurrection which killed at least 200,0000 Liberians. Sirleaf’s support for Taylor has been a hot political issue and dogged her during the 1997 elections when she ran against Taylor, but even then she skillfully evaded the question.

In Defense of “Illiterate” Liberians (part III)
The recent blasé All-Liberian Conferences justifies the argument that miseducated Liberians are anti-democrats. The organizing rampaging, backdoor politricking, and belligerence demonstrated by the separation of the various actors’ iniquitous personification of the overall objectives of such noble project reflect the cries of our suffering people:

An Application for Apology
We who are of tribal lineage would not be too far from the truth if we claimed ignorance as an excuse for some of our own breaches. But we can’’t do that because before we heard about the Geneva Convention we already had the Pallipo Convention, the Bassa Treaty, and the Dodee Covenant that forbade one tribe from spilling the blood of the citizens of its treaty partners.

Peace & Unity From The Islamic Perspective

All the major religions of the world have one basic principle and that is to promote the values of peace and unity among mankind. There should be no doubt that love, peace, kindness and mercy are the divine bounties and blessings, without which mankind could not have survived and, therefore, it is rather inevitable and indispensable for us to revert to the divine guidance and teachings so as to be able to translate the dream of a peaceful world into a reality.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s Statement At The All Liberian Conference- April 14, 2005
And we all know insurgency capped in military terms is VIOLENT! And Taylor’s offensive was worse than history can recall. Mr. Taylor and others claimed it was “exhaustion” over President Doe’s “dictatorship” that led them to resort to VIOLENCE. Whether or not this is true depends on where Taylor stands to date, where the nation is situated currently and what Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf did to bring the nation to its current state.
Mrs. Sirleaf, as she admits, supported Taylor VIOLENCE! And when she did, in fact and in reality, she sanctioned and resorted to VIOLENCE as means to explain her differences with President Doe and his government.

Beware Of Brumskine’s Christian Fundementalist Agenda
Almost ten years ago, Cllr. Charles Brumskine made an emotional appeal along this fundamentalist line when he served as a keynote speaker at a graduation ceremony on the main campus of the Zion Community College, for which he received a thunderous applaud from the emotionally charged audience. I was in the audience. Below is a portion of the article I had written back then which was meant for publication in the local dailies. For whatever reason, the article was not published. I was looking through my papers recently and came across the unpublished article. Since this is an election season and Cllr. Brumskine happens to be a presidential candidate, I deem it necessary to bring the article out at this time.

“I Will Not Sell Liberia”…Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf
One of the leading contenders in the October general elections says she will not accept monetary and ‘in kind’ contributions of goods and services towards her campaign from businesses and individuals who expect something in return.

Ellen: "Have I done the most for our country?"
Bell: "No, ma’am! You could have. But decided not to. I draw inference from your most recent interview with the Daily Observer News Magazine at which time you officially admitted supporting Mr. Charles Taylor in his insurgency which took the lives of innocent men, women and children. According to you in the interview, he (Taylor) “betrayed” you. Whatever the truth may be, I find it difficult to comprehend that you did not know, having been in politics and international relations for ever so long, that building a military offensive is easy then to disengage it. How could you not know that a military approach to political problems mostly ends up in a generalized anarchy of violence as indicated in peace records of the UN?"

Beware Of Brumskine’s Christian Fundementalist Agenda
The idea that Liberia “was founded on Christian principle” has been proclaimed from many pulpits across the country. This is something very fundamental to the belief of many Christian Liberians and they don’t hesitate to say it. To non-Christian Liberians, who for the most part are Moslems, this notion is nothing short of religious bigotry.

Liberian says justice remains elusive
Corruption is so rampant in the tiny west African nation of Liberia that people say the easiest way to wealth is a government job. But lawyer Jerome Verdier has a different vision for his country. He wants transparency and the rule of law to replace the fraud, internal strife and civil war that have torn Liberia apart for the past 15 years.

Well Done, Amb. Blaney
HE CALLED ON the candidates to pledge publicly that they and their respective parties will not attempt to buy votes during the elections. Equally, he called upon voters not to sell their votes to any candidate and urged the candidates to campaign on the basis of competing ideas and programs on how best to move Liberia forward for the benefit of all Liberians.

In Defense of “Illiterate” Liberians (Part II)
The force and organization which attaches objection to citizen’s rule whenever an election result is announced in Liberia demonstrates that our political elites (Rice Politicians), Sawyer’s, Ellen’s, Fahnbulleh’s ECT does not believe in democracy. Instead they always proffer an already tested and failed political theory urging a power sharing “national conference” to remedy our quest for a legitimate state.
