Thanks for the space in your popular online magazine. I strongly disagree and will countered term it as a “refutable probability” that of the “two hundred fifty thousands” casualties of war in Liberia, over “one hundred thousand” were Mandingoes as alleged by Mr. Varfley A. Dolleh. Show me your evidence and I will hold your feet in submission. There was no coordinated plan to extrude the Mandingoes from their fatherland as Dolleh tried to suggest. Mandingoes fighters, with the support of a few power hungry Mandingo individuals such as Alhaji Kromah, Varfley Dolleh, Luseni Kamara, etc, committed heinous crimes against their fellow Liberians in the name of redeeming Liberian Muslims. Suggesting that the Mandingoes be compensated for the crimes committed against them is quite in place; however, wouldn’t it be fare enough to suggest that the Mandingoes compensate other Liberians for all the crimes committed against them by ULIMO-K and LURD. I say this because you have now singled out the Mandingoes to be the only tribe that largely suffered at the hands of Taylor’s rebels and hence they should be paid. Yesterday you fought to redeem the Liberian Muslims; today, it is the Mandingoes that should be compensated, bearing the old adage that Mandingo is synonymous to Muslim.
I lived in Liberia and followed events during the fourteen years of fighting. Mandingoes were not killed from the onset of the war. The killing of Mandingoes started when they were perceived as collaborating with AFL soldiers to exterminate the Gios and Manos who made up the rebel army; and after you, Varfley A Dolleh read your infamous position statement at the Executive Mansion pledging our kinsmen’s support to the unpopular Doe government. Evidently, you and a few others dragged the Mandingoes into the war; you cause the death and destruction of our people and their hard earned assets. A lot of Mandingoes were killed, but not up to a hundred thousand, most Mandingoes fled to neighboring Guinea and Sierra Leone. A reasonable number will be from fifteen to twenty thousand of Mandingoes killed; and be mindful that I am in no way trying to justify the killing of Mandingoes, absolutely not; for one Mandingo or Liberian for that matter killed due to the war is unjustifiable.
Your utterances from time on are always sugar-coated lies. There are some truthful and well-meanings Mandingoes who despite what happened to them or their relatives are forging ahead with life. You are all about government jobs Varfley. You immaturely enter government during the first transitional government and you learned how to steal government money. As a shrewd opportunist who only cares for himself and immediate family, corruption has become your trademark, and now you trying to act that you really care if Mandingoes have jobs in Liberia. Show me one qualified Mandingo you help when you were in power.
Lastly, you can go ahead and file your lawsuit, but note that we are no longer fools. We will no longer sit supinely and let you and your godfathers carry on your selfish deeds in the name of Mandingoes or Muslims. Be mindful that we are watching all of your sinister
motives.
