Bouncing Back Amidst Challenges
Oct 19, 2007
Varfley A. Dolleh
Introduction:
Being off the limelight of politics in recent times as a result of illness has been problematic with many of our supporters calling in harmony with our situation, while on the other hand, our detractors have been pondering, “Whether or not we were going to resurface”? It is always the wishful thinking of one’s adversary to see a short life span of his perceive opponent, with my case being of no exception. Our recovery is coinciding with several unfolding events in the community and expected challenges.
Challenges Number One:
In recent days we have witnessed with admiration the benevolent efforts of “LIMANY”, in transforming her self from a mere dissemination of news outlet to a non-for profit Organization catering to the needed in the “West African Sub-region”, especially, the “Republic of Liberia” where, she has been carrying on humanitarian efforts through the donation of laboratory equipments, books and other food items to the needed. We take special note of the donations made to the University of Liberia, various mosques, churches and orphanages in the Monrovia areas.
We applaud “LIMANY’s” initiative and would like to encourage other community organizations that want to be given the appropriate relevance to follow her track records. The reality is, this organization has remained the most formidable and serviceable organization in advocacy for the downtrodden Mandingoes and non-Mandingoes alike. She was in the vanguard of social and political liberalism and the consciousness drive during the apex of the Taylor era.
Gauging the activities of the leadership, especially the able web-master, it would be an under estimation if I don’t use this occasion in commending him for a job well done. Mr. Jabateh must be hailed for his sacrificial services in steering the affairs of the web rains or shines. You deserve a flower while you are still alive.
Challenges Number Two:
Amidst the euphoria of the elevation of the formally “Quardu Gboni Mandingo Chiefdom” as a new District and the eventful inauguration of the new leadership of the Organization, headed by Mr. Semah Sheriff. We say hat off and congratulation for the new achievement. But, the reality is, an inauguration is not an end in it self, but should be a means for productivity and deliverance to your amenable constituency. This is the Herculean task ahead of you as you shoulder the mantle of authority. Whether or not you will be able to make the difference beneficial to the District? Whether or not you will be able to transform your pre-election rhetoric’s in Philadelphia into reality? Whether or not you will be able to serve as a unifier? These are the real concerns of we your subjects from the District. Mr. President, one thing is certain, you can count on our overwhelming supports in accomplishing your campaign promises.
Challenges Number Three:
Being mindful of the enthusiasm and pageantry that characterized the formation of “Federation of Liberia Mandingoes Associations in the Americas,” it is no joke that the pending inauguration on November 3rd 07, in Wisconsin, will highly climax positively. It is expected that the new leadership will extend an olive branch to all of the contending parties so that we can have a round table discussion in resolving the burning issues. It is not about name making, but rather achieving a desire objective. What do we want to achieve as a community after all of these things? Do we want to establish a political cloud in seeking public offices at the detriment of the Mandingoes? If the answers are the negative, then you need to start letting the ball rolling in calling for a dialogues with all of the feuding parties, especially, some prominent members from “LIMANY, Quardu Gboni Mandingo Association, the disbanded Board of LIMAP and some powerful elements with in the Wisconsin and Milwaukee Organizations”. This is my clarion call to the new leadership as we monitor your activities with eagle eyes.
Thanks for the many calls and solidarity during the short interval.
