The Humanitarian arm of the Liberian Mandingo of New York (LIMANY) extended its outreach program with continuous donation initially started months ago. Presenting assorted academic materials to the Salafiya Islamic High School in Monrovia today, a Representative of LIMANY Mr. S. Mohammed Kromah underscores the need to transform the injured academic environment in Liberia to modern standard citing examples on the Western education.
He challenged students at the Salafiya School to combat against ignorance in their academic pursuit adding, “ignorance is the worst disease one needs to resist in any given environment. He also took the opportunity to thank the I-HELP Liberia Project at Hunter College High School in New York. “Run by students, I-HELP Liberia Project has helped Liberia in so many ways since 1993 and continues to do so. These materials here today, are the hard works of these students. The students are excited about the partnership with LIMANY.” Mr. Kromah stressed.
The donation made at the Salafiya High School came as a surprise with no publicity attached to such a great donation.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Salafiya family, the Imam at the institution Salah M. Sheriff thanked LIMANY family for the gesture. He said, every contribution counts and hope that others will follow soon. Imam Sheriff who expressed joy in a rather unusual style was speechless and overwhelmed with excitement for such a wonderful donation. “We were just about to purchase science books. As you may be aware, books in Liberia are highly seen and the little on the market is extremely expensive. We hope the Almighty Allah will give you strength in seeking for more assistance for students in Liberia”.
LIMANY humanitarian outreach started months back with its President and Chief Executive Officer, Abraham Turay making numerous visits in key institutions inside and outside Monrovia. University of Liberia, Glory of God Church in Lugon Town, Muslim Congress High School, Mohee High School in Jacob Town, Toddlers Care, John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital among others. Other institutions outside Monrovia are, J.W. Pearson High School in Ganta, Nimba County, Faith Academic Junior and Senior High School in Ganta Nimba County, Kpein Public School in Nimba County in Nimba among others.
