Family members of former President Samuel Doe have vowed not to forgive Nimba County Senator Prince Johnson for recent testimony he gave before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

In a rather harsh response to Senator Johnson’s testimony, the brother of the slain President Jackson Doe said Senator Johnson lied to them during a reconciliatory meetings held between the Doe family and Prince Johnson in Nigeria. Making particular reference to how former President Samuel Doe was killed and burned, Mr. Doe said it is beyond reconciliation for Prince Johnson to resist the location of the actual burial site to the family and the Liberian people.

The former rebel Leader of the defunct INPFL Prince Johnson revealed in his recent testimony before the TRC that President Samuel Doe’s body was burned to ashes and thrown into the rive at his Caldwell base. The statement that many observers viewed as untrue and misleading.

Earlier speculations filtering prior to the testimony of Prince Johnson linked the Nimba County Senator to cannibalism. Senator Johnson is accused for eating the body of former President Samuel Doe after his death.

The position statement by Doe’s family questions the intent of the TRC and the unwillingness of perpetrators and victims to reconcile.
