There are reports hat an inter-tribal conflict is gradually brewing in Nimba county between the Mandingos on the one hand, and the Manos and Gios, on the other, which requires the urgent intervention of the NTGL in order to bring this situation under control.

In a petition presented last Friday at the Capitol Building to the Nimba Legislative Caucus, the Mandingoes accused their Manos and Gios kingsmen of preventing them from taking over their properties, including real estates and lands.

The petition read by Mrs. Madenyen N. Jabateh, spokeperson of the Mandingo ethnic group, recalled how they were forced to flee their homeland to escape the civil crisis. Adding, "after years of seeking safety in other parts of the cuntry and neighboring countries our brothers and sisters of the Mano and Gio ethnic group refused for us to reclaim our respective properties in the county".  She told the Lawmakers.

Accrding to the statement, as normalcy returns to the country, they are making frantuic efforts to return home, alleging that their kinsmen have refused to relinguish their properties on grounds that they are not the bonafide owners. As a consequence of this, according to the Mandingoes, they are encountering difficulties and are therefore calling on the Nimba County Legislative Caucus to intervine immediately to avert any civil strife.

The Lawmakers of the county in response, promised to "do something about this ugly situation", adding, "we will not sit here for such to put our people against each others."
