Liberia: LIMANY humanitarian outreach hits Liberia | Print |  E-mail

The Liberian Mandingo in New York (LIMANY) in fulfillment of its humanitarian outreach program outside United States of America commenced the donation of food and non-food items to over Thousands of Liberians in a bid to assist in addressing numerous problems.

Making the donation in Monrovia, the President of LIMANY Mr. Abraham Turey said every moment of their time in the States has been to see Liberia/Liberians graduate from things that tent to divide them. He said although the items donated by LIMANY were lobby for a means of sharing it among the desperate was-affected population of Liberia, his organization-experienced lot of difficulties especially at the Freeport of Monrovia in releasing the container at the entry. He lauded his colleagues especially Asumana Randolph for his personal assistance in releasing the container from the port of entry.

Scores of people and institutions are expected to benefit from the donation from LIMANY. Among them are, the University of Liberia, Muslim Congress High School, Kpein Public School in Nimba County, local churches as well as war-affected children and other needed persons and institutions,

On Sunday October 14, 2007; rice, sneakers and other non-food items were distributed among the women and youth groups of Jacob Town community and its proximity. Another distribution was made at the Glory of God Church in Logan Town. Making remarks during the distribution minutes after the regular church service, the President of LIMANY Abraham Turey said LIMANY is not only an Islamic organization. It humanitarian arm goes beyond devotion adding that the need of humans is not restricted to religion. He urged Liberians to re-enforce their strength in fostering and maintaining the peace and reconciliation in Liberia.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Church, the head Deacon of the Church Bro. Abraham Nimely outlined numerous difficulties encountered by the Church. He said the Glory of God Church was established in 1986 but was affected by the bloody civil war in Liberia. He thanked the family of LIMANY for their donation and urged them to continue such in the future.
The donation was embraced by jubilation with regular Church chorus and exchange of greetings.

Present at the ceremony were Rev. Victor Wleh, Senior Pastor of the Church; Abraham Jabateh and scores of by-standers. The donation is expected to continue today basically with institutions like the University of Liberia, Muslim Congress High School, Muslim Congress sub-branch in Jacob Town among others.
