The Chief Imam of Ganta Mosque and head of the Moslem Community in Ganta is cautioning all Muslims around the country to celebrate Abraham’s day with the spirit of love, peace and forgiveness highlighting reconciliation as one of the major pillars of the Islamic religion.

Speaking at the commencement of a special prayer ahead of the actual celebration of Abraham’s day, Alihaji Mohammed Kromah recounted several goodwill exhibited by Abraham in fulfillment of the obedience put forth by Allah. According to Imam Kromah, Abraham’s day started long ago during the days of Abraham and is respected of all Muslims around the World as the day Allah instructed Abraham to kill his son Ishmael as a sacrifice to God. He said although Abraham obeyed the commandment of Allah to kill his son, Allah reconsidered his decision and replaced the son of Abraham with a rim.

He dismissed growing argument that the actual son of Abraham does not really matter in the obedience offered by Abraham. There has been argument concerning the actual son of Abraham that was sacrificed with Christians believing that Isaac, the son of Abraham was scarified instead of Ishmael.

At the prayer service on Abraham’s day, Moslems in Ganta offered special prays for lasting peace and reconciliation in Liberia. According to Imam Kromah, peace and love are also contributing pillars of the Islamic faith. He said religion is a devotion and blending religion with politics at the radical stands undermined the intent of human existence. He warned Moslems especially those without financial strength to also observe the day because the organic book of the Islamic Faith did not establish pre-condition to the celebration of this day. He said Abraham’s day is the legal footprint of the Islamic religion but warned that anyone celebrating this day with heavy heart will be undermining the doctrine of Prophet Mohammed.

Commenting on the land dispute in Ganta, another Imam of the Ganta Mosque requests the urgent invitation of government to be more proactive in the land issue adding “government is dragging its feet”. Alihaji Isa Sayway maintained that reconciliation is certainly a must judging from the level of development currently going on in Ganta.

Imam Mohammed Kromah who is also the head of the Muslim community in Ganta extended special thanks and appreciation to the executives of the Liberian Mandingo in New York (LIMANY) for their overwhelming contributions to this year Abraham’s day celebration in Ganta. He urged all Muslims to follow the example LIMANY as they plan to renovate their damaged Mosque.

From investigation conducted and view simple, this year Abraham day celebration in Ganta attracted several Muslims both in Ganta, Monrovia and Guinea. The celebration was climax with the killing of LIMANY donated cow at the damaged Mosque where prayer was held.
