MONROVIA, THURSDAY, JANUARY 12TH, 2012: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released the calendar of events for the Inauguration of the President-elect and Vice President-elect of the Republic of Liberia, January 15th – 16th, 2012.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the activities are as follows:

11:00 a.m. Thanksgiving and Intercessory Service
Centennial Memorial Pavilion
Ashmun Street, Monrovia

2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Women’s Leadership Forum and Honoring Programme
The Gymnasium
Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex, Paynesville

4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friendly Soccer Match – Liberia vs. Nigeria
Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex, Paynesville

6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Cultural and Musical Extravaganza
Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex, Paynesville

Monday, January 16th, 2012

11:00 a.m.
Inaugural Ceremony on the Grounds of the Capitol followed by an Inaugural Luncheon in the Banquet Hall of the Capitol Building and Reception on the Grounds of the Capitol (By invitation only)

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Parade with March Past of the Military and Para-Military organizations and Regional Floats representing the fifteen counties

8:00 p.m. – 12:00 Midnight
Inaugural Ball at the Executive Pavilion with Balls simultaneously at the Monrovia City Hall, Paynesville City Hall and Brewerville City Hall.(By invitation only)
Receptions will also be held in various political districts in Montserrado County.

Other festivities are planned in the counties.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also released the Order of the Day for the Inauguration Ceremony on Monday, January 16th, 2012 as follows:

According to the Protocol, NO vehicles will be allowed to enter the Grounds of the Capitol.

All guests, with the exception of those listed in this Special Protocol, will enter the Grounds of the Capitol through the University of Liberia.

The ushering of guests to the Ceremony will commence at 8:00 a.m. and end at 10:00 a.m. No one will be permitted to enter after 10:00 a.m. except those mentioned below.

10:05 a.m.
The Speaker and Members of the 53rd Legislature and out-going Members of the 52nd Legislature will enter the Grounds through the VIP Entrance and be escorted to seats reserved for them.

10:10 a.m. The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General and Heads of International Organizations will enter the Grounds through the VIP Entrance and be escorted to seats reserved for them.

10:15 a.m. The Doyen and Members of the Diplomatic Corps will enter the Grounds through the VIP Entrance and be escorted to seats reserved for them.

10:20 a.m. The Dean and Members of the Cabinet will enter the Grounds through the VIP Entrance and be escorted to seats reserved for them.

10:25 a.m. The Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court of Liberia will enter the Grounds through the VIP Entrance and be escorted to seats reserved for them.

10:30 a.m. The Vice President-elect and Mrs. Boakai will enter the Grounds through the VIP Entrance and be escorted to seats reserved for them.

10:35 a.m. Foreign Heads of State and Government will enter the Grounds through the VIP Entrance and be escorted to seats reserved for them.

10:55 a.m. The President-elect will be met on arrival by the Joint Legislative Committee and escorted through the VIP Entrance to her seat at which time the ceremony begins.
