A CALL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL REVOLUTION (At the All Liberian National Conference for Peace, Reconciliation and Reform Ralph Bunche International Center, Howard University, Washington D.C., March 17-19, 2005)
The political war for power struggle that lasted for over fourteen years in Liberia has at least subsided, but there is a silent war of environmental carnage being raged at the detriment of human lives. Poor sanitary health and other environmental decadence account for more deaths that surpassed the total death toll of over 250,000 lives as legacy of the 14 years war and the number is still climbing.

Until Mrs. Sirleaf can come out to tell us why  she proclaimed to the world that the Taylor-led war was a "people's power revolution" when our people were being killed in Tiaplay, Karnplay, Sanniquellie, Barkedou, Gbarnga and other places of Libera; untill she can come out to say why she remained silent while our homes and other properties have been illegally occupied by the remnants of the Taylor forces in Nimba and elsewhere, she has not earned our supports as a community. The challenge to her and any other candidate for that matter is to justify why they deserve our supports. Until then, she has not earned our supports. We will not jump on the bandwagon and we will not encourage our people to do.

A Rejoinder To Nagbe Sloh's "BRYANT' CORRUPTION TRAIN SWEEPS LIBERIA”
I am writing this letter as a rejoinder to a portion of the article by  J. Nagbe Sloh which appeared on LIMANY website on March 11, 2005. AS CORRUPTION IN NTGL INCREASES -ECOWAS Plans to Audit Executive mansion
The seat of the Liberian Presidency, the Executive Mansion is to shortly be audited by ECOWAS due to a wide range of allegations of corruption being leveled against the Chairman of the NTGL, Charles Gyude Bryant by some members of his cabinet.

The trouble which is slowly engulfing the office of the NTGL Chairman, began when the cost of the Liberian stable (rice) being hike at double price; from $17.00 to $35.00 while civil servant salary is being put at less than $10.00 United States Dollars.

MONROVIA, 9 March (IRIN) - Now that peace has returned to Liberia, people living with HIV/AIDS are setting their sights on a new fight - the battle to contain the pandemic.

PUTIN EXTENDS SANCTIONS AGAINST LIBERIA 
MOSCOW, March 9 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin has prolonged the regime of sanctions against Liberia. He has decreed On the Measures to Fulfil Resolution 1579 of the UN Security Council, dated December 21, 2004, the Kremlin press service reports.

DONZO FAMILY HONORS ITS U. S MILITARY VETERANS 
On Sunday, February 6, 2005, the Donzo family in Woodbridge, Virginia gave a farewell treat to three US military veterans who served and received honorable discharges respectively. The three are Sgt. Kalifala Donzo, Spc. Haja Komara-Donzo, and Spc. Vafumba Komara. While Sgt. Kalifala Donzo served in the Army National Guard of Virginia, Spc. Haja and her brother, Spc. Vafumba served on active duty in the regular army.

MONROVIA, 7 March (IRIN) - Liberia's transitional government is desperately seeking the funds needed to disband its existing army before it can form a new national force, Defence Minister Daniel Chea said on Monday.

"They are my mother. They are my father," she says of the only African immigrant-operated social services organization in the region. .

 "They helped me with [finding clothing], with hospital. ACANA put food in this house, bread, milk. They take me everywhere, even to [the] immigration [office]. Nothing is too good that they can't give us."

It appears that the long running occupation of homes of several kinsmen of Nimba is far from being over as reports filtering in from the county speak of the persistence of the situation.

 LIBERIA: WFP prioritises returning refugees and IDPs in food distribution
MONROVIA, 4 March (IRIN) - The UN World Food Programme (WFP) says it is running out of food to help nearly one million people stay alive in Liberia, but it pledged on Friday to prioritise the distribution of rations to refugees and other displaced people returning to their home villages.

A citizen of Nimba County, Madam Madenyen Jabateh has called upon the United Nations  to foster social integration and provide a developmental package for recovery in Nimba County. She said this will help the county, one of the worst affected areas of the war, to recover from the war. As of now, Madam Jabateh said the citizens and indeed all Liberians need help to restart their lives.

Rebuilding failed states
What can the world do about state failure? Surprisingly, quite a lot ONE and a half years ago, Liberia was a failed state. Two separate groups of drug-emboldened teenage rebels controlled most of the country. A gangsterish president, Charles Taylor, was losing control even over Monrovia, the capital, where all sides were firing heavy artillery into office blocks and looting strategic spots such as the brewery.
