Liberians Gift to Liberia This July 26
Ramses K. Nah
July 1, 2003

This July 26th, Liberia will be celebrating her 156th year of Independence. What has she to show for it? And moreover, what is your Gift to your Mother on Her Birthday?

Instead of the various 'pageantry' and  'pomp and circumstance', around the United States of America this year to celebrate our Independence Day, we should make this a very special day for all Liberians. It is about time we forego all these celebrations for our presences in Washington, D.C. "en masse". Making a statement of such nature on a day most dear to our motherland is next to the best Sacrifice we can do for the moment. Instead of getting that suit or buying that African attire, rally those around you and your local Liberians community leaders to a bus trip to this Nation's Capital to appeal to the Power that Be for some action in our Beloved Land. I believe that we should protest at the White House, and if possible ask of an audience with the President of The United States of America. Look, my fellow Liberians, If we are not willing to make the sacrifices that are important for our Dear Land, no one and I mean, No One, will be willing to do it for us. It is about time we let go of the celebrations around this country and come together, as LIBERIANS, Strong and United to confront the nightmare of Liberia today.

Let  us urge the ULAA's, COLOSSUS, various Liberian communities, local Liberian church Leaders and civic leader to mobilize their membership in doing this for our country. Moreover, let us urge Ourselves and Neighbors to get more involved in the political affairs of our country. Our failed politician have made a tragic mess of our country and it is about time we, Liberians, demand and Take Back our country. We need to let these warlords, in the likes of the MODEL, LURD and NPP, and especially Taylor and his Gangsters, they must leave the scene. We need to state unequivocally to the United States and the International community, what and who we need to make Liberia a better place. We, Liberians must demand of the United States to take a very active and strategic role and lead an international commitment in both deed and words. We must it clear to them and speak out loudly, that we have been there strategically for the United States and now, at our hour of despair we need their assistance. Let us make encourage the United States government to deploy, immediately and without delay, a contingent of their military to bring some stability and avert a disaster of catastrophic proportions. We Need United States of America's help, for without it, Liberia is Doomed to more Murder and Mayhem by these terrorist parading around as Charles Taylor, NPP, MODEL and LURD.

Liberians, we need to speak out and speak up! We need to tell the NPP, LURD and MODEL along with some of these FAILED POLITICIANS, who are now gathered in Ghana, that they are the problem and that they need to leave political scene in Liberia. We must make it clear to these rouges of politicians that have done more harm than good. We must demand of them to select a Liberian> , independent of them, to lead Liberia for a specified period of no longer than two years. We must demand of the LURD, MODEL and NPP their immediate cessation of the violence and terroristic act. We must DEMAND the Immediate RESIGNATION of CHARLES TAYLOR. I believe, it was in his dreams that he was urged by chief and others to continue to rule Liberia. This man, Charles Taylor, is not only a International PARIAH, but a disgrace to the People and Republic of Liberia. Which international leader in their right mind, would have anything to do with Charles Taylor and his Gangsters or with LURD and MODEL? These THUGS need to know from the Liberian that they are > nothing but THUGS, GANGSTER, MURDERERS AND LOOTERS.

So, my fellow Liberians, What would it be, Parties in local communities, with all the pageantry and the Showing off or a mass rally in Washington, D.C. on JULY 25th or 26th to give your Mother of All Mother, Liberia, a Well Deserved Gift.

Interim Government with LURD, MODEL NPP and the Political Parties-A Tragic Blunder
By Ramses K. Nah
July 16, 2003

What Liberia needs today, after a effective cease fire, is a Liberian Independent of Charles Taylor, NPP, LURD MODEL and All theses Corrupt Political Parties, to Lead an Interim Administration.

The discussion being advanced in Accra, Ghana about the formation of Interim Government, to include the current Taylor administration's cabinet members, LURD, MODEL and the eighteen (18) political parties is a very disastrous proposition. What have these politicians not learned? The results would be the same as in the mid 1990's that brought Mr. Taylor to power, with more chaos, in-fighting and much of the same of today, constant civil war and struggle for power.

The previous Interim Administrations, where various groups where either initiators and/or actors of the quagmire that is now embroiling Liberia, produced nothing but chaos, greed, corruption, no clear vision and the destruction of the Liberian society. These Interim Administrations, consisting of the same players, have produced nothing, no, not one iota of anything of a constructive nature for Our Dear Republic. What can these DUMB and ROGUE politicians not understand? Interim Government with all of the Current Players, LURD, MODEL NPP, Taylor and his Kitchen Cabinet, and any Political Party is not the right solution. This simply proves that fact that Liberian Politicians are only concern about themselves, personally and not the country of Liberia. These People are not Patriots of Liberia; they are All Patriots of exploiting Liberia for their Personal Gains. If an interim government is formed with this crop of politicians again, this only proves that they will and are rewarding one another for the spoils of their 'pepperbush'.

Let us state unambiguously to these wretched souls that 'We, The Liberian People Do Not Want The Gatherers in Ghana As Our Leaders'. Let them know we want them to participate through a democratic means, if they want to rule. Rewarding these Thugs with a position or leadership in any Interim Administration only opens the floodgate for more bloodbath and destabilization of the Liberian society. Since, anyone can hijack democracy in Liberia and be rewarded with a political appointment, and thus, enrich oneself at the expense of the Liberian masses.
It is my view that African leader all around the continent are themselves such failure in that they do not have the decency to be constructive and unbiased in dealing with this African fiasco. Moreover, African leader themselves are no different from Charles Taylor for their failure to provide descent job, education and healthcare for their people. Instead, they continue to enrich themselves, personally and maintain nepotistic agenda.  Liberians themselves are so disappointing in not dealing constructively in this matter. Where are the Democratic Transparent leaders of Africa and what are they doing? Where are Liberian quasi-political and social organizations?  Why are they not call for an Individual totally independent of the charade in Ghana to head an interim administration? Are they all so quiet because they are no different from Taylor? Illegitimate! When will we learn?

But this situation demands Liberians to be passionate and patriotic, not giving up the cause of peacefully getting back Liberia from the hands of these rogues and thugs. Why must our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers and other relatives' die, only to see selfish individuals loot our treasury and fight for power? Where is their vision for the future of the children of the land? We, Liberians, must change our mentality, from being easily complacent and satisfied, when there is not the slightest of peace and stability. We must focus on the long-term agenda for peace not only for us, but also for the future generations. We want leadership through the democratic process, leaders with a farsighted and dynamic agenda.

So, please, for an interim administration in Liberia, let not include the failures of their own lives, called political parties, Charles Taylor, NPP, LURD and MODEL. We must demand someone who has no dealings with anyone one of these groups. I believe there are Liberians who have achieved prominence in International organizations, academia, and the corporate world, who are capable of leading Liberia through this period. Please speak up!

Why are LUP, LAP, NDPL, UP and other political parties not speaking against this charade? Is this a conspiracy to keep Liberia in such quagmire for personal ambition?

EXILE FOR CHARLES TAYLOR IS A DISASTROUS ALTERNATIVE!
(Open Letter to President Bush)

Good Morning President Bush,

There have been some statements advanced recently, about possible exile for Charles Taylor of Liberia. Mr. President, Please! Please!  do not support such idea. During your upcoming visit to Africa Mr. President, Please! , convey to Presidents Obasanjo of Nigeria, Koffour of Ghana and ECOWAS your objection to the idea of exile for Charles Taylor. Giving Taylor  any  options for exile, is the equivalent of giving Saddam Hussein exile to one of his neighbors. Mr. President, these various African leaders have significantly failed Liberia and the region in the past. ECOWAS, its Secretary General  and the former Nigerian leader who is heading the peace talks, have shown strong bias towards Charles Taylor, thus questioning their motives. It was quite evident, the consequences of allowing Taylor to back to Liberia upon his indictment in Ghana. Their refusal to adhere to an international obligation was a total affront against the Liberian people. Their failure have given rise to Charles Taylor being President of Liberia. An African solution bears no legitimacy, as African leader have a tendency to protect one of theirs. If Peace is to be genuinely achieved and there is to be a deterrence of more Charles Taylor's, then, Mr. President, Charles Taylor must to be arrested to face justice both in Liberia and Sierra Leone. If not, Sir, the sub-region and Africa will be doomed to more destruction and mayhem and terrorism has gained the upper hand.

President Bush, Your Excellency, The United States must do everything within it power and your authority to lead on the situation in Liberia. African leaders have failed Liberia once before, thus giving rise the 'Terrorist Numero Uno' Charles Taylor. Exile for Taylor is only a recipe for anyone to take up guns to pursue their personal objectives at the expense of an entire country and its people. There should be No Exile for Charles Taylor and members of his NPP party. Moreover, the various rebel groups, LURD and MODEL must held accountable to Liberian for the destruction of the country and use of child soldiers. Please, Presidents Bush, Obasanjo, Koffour, ECOWAS, UN and the Security Council, Please! do not encourage Taylor into exile. Mr. Taylor must be held fully accountable for his actions. Anything short of that, President Bush, is the equivalent of allowing Saddam Hussein off the hook.

President Bush, one thing to know, Liberia and the United States have a long, special and strong relationship. Liberia, is a creation of America's policy and ingenuity. The United States cannot sit idly by allowing  Charles Taylor, NPP, LURD and MODEL to roam freely. Mr. President, to be taken serious about fighting terrorism and the pursuit of democracy, Africa and especially, Liberia, must be reflected high on your list of priorities and agenda. The United States must lead and its mandate should not only be a peace keeping effort, but the arrest and turning over of Charles Taylor and his cohorts to the Court in Sierra Leone and for subsequent persecution for Liberian War Crimes.

Thanks

Desperate Times Calls For Desperate Measures
Monday, June 16, 2003

Ramses K. Nah
Rnah65@attg.net

So far Mr. Taylor has not heeded to the unconditional calls from Liberians and the International community to promptly leave office and along with gangsters officials. Taylor’s demand for the removal of the indictment against him as a means to Peace in Liberia is total absurdity. Taylor, and not only Taylor but including, top officials in his administration such as his entire cabinet, members of the NPP executive committee, Baccus Matthews, those on the UN travel banned individuals, Alhaji Kromah, LURD and MODEL must, and I repeat MUST be held accountable for the atrocities against the Liberian people. LURD, MODEL, NPP and Taylor must know that Liberians do not want any other leader through the barrel of the gun. The Liberian people must unconditionally shun those who choose to come to power in such manner by peaceful disobedience.

Liberians at home have to demonstrate this Taylor administration, LURD and MODEL, by having a National Strike, not attending any form of work at all government Ministries, Local companies, etc. There should be a general strike in Liberia. All market women and men should refrain from selling their goods and services. From Waterside market to Rallytime market to Joe Bar, Redlight and all markets in Liberia should stop selling for sometime. All cabs should desist from plying the streets of Monrovia and all other counties. There should be a complete shut down of business activity in Liberia, even if intermittent. These Hoodlums and Gangster should know that they are not needed.

Liberians abroad should call the Liberian embassies and state their opposition and demand for Taylor’s and his government unconditional resignation. All foreigners should desist from doing business with the Taylor government and also, should LURD or MODEL seize power, the same should be applied.

It is in this regard that all Liberians in the Diaspora must act in a manner as to lets them Gangsters know that their service are not needed in Liberia. It is about time we bombard the various Liberian news websites with our dissatisfaction and voice in no uncertain terms, being very unambiguous with the Taylor administration and the various rebel groups, in particular, LURD and MODEL. All Liberians with access to a computer need to voice their opposition to the current state of affairs in the Republic of Liberia and in particular, to the Taylor administration and the Rebels, by emailing any Liberian news website. Even it is just a single sentence, have your say, speak you mind, voice your opposition, Demand Taylor’s Resignation and Voice our Dissatisfaction with the Rebels, LURD and MODEL genocide against the Liberian People. My fellow Liberians, if we do not speak up now, No One will help us. We cannot afford, especially at this time, to be silent about what is happening in Liberia. We cannot just talk about our dissatisfaction in our homes, in a bar, in the various Liberian restaurants and social gatherings. No, we need to speak out, Loud and Clear, to all these hoodlums and gangsters and unambiguously state to our politicians, Get your acts together. Demand from your politicians, the setting up and agreeing to, of an independent Liberian or renown repute or the United Nations to rule Liberia, until we can have a genuine democratic process and government.

My fellow Liberian who are residing in the United States of America, Please! Please! write/email the President of the United States of America, the Members of the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the United States House of Representatives International Relations Committee, the United House of Representative Congressional Black Caucus and your individual Congressman/woman. It is time for us to be heard and plead our case. So Let Us, All Liberians, make it our July 26th Gift to the Republic of Liberia, by calling, emailing and writing all those who can make a difference in the United States and the various capitals around the world where Liberians reside. Our plight must have an end and a resolution.

Below are websites and email you can use to send your message. Please Do Not Be Afraid, because if you are there is no Love or Nationalism within you and Our people, Your brothers, sisters, aunts uncles, cousins will continue to die and suffer.

No Deal For Taylor and His Entourage

Ramses K. Nah

Taylor should be granted NO DEAL, for the sake of Peace. The Indictment against Taylor must be maintain, so as to not abrogate any form Justice for the Liberian People. Liberia is not a Monopoly Game, where Taylor can demand a free "get out of jail card". Taylor and his Gangsters must be held Fully Accountable for what they have done, not only in Liberia, but also in the Entire Sub-region. Taylor is no different than Saddam Hussein or Milosevic and as such he deserves the same treatment.

Any Deal for Mr. Taylor and his Gangsters would send the Wrong Message! It simply states, anyone in Liberia, Africa, or anywhere else can, in the name of any cause, Loot, Murder and Suppress their own people without any CONSEQUENCE. This is Wrong! Taylor and his gang must have Justice. The same should apply to LURD and MODEL.

Mr. Taylor, it is time for you to resign your position as president of the Republic of Liberia and "giddy on down" to Freetown. In almost a decade of more or less being in control of Liberia, there has been no substance from your administration. You had a chance after your election in 1997, but you have failed miserably. PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF LIBERIA AND LIBERIANS, do us the Honorable thing and RESIGN, IMMEDIATELY. Tell the organizers in Ghana, that you and your NPP cohorts, including the Shaw’s, Goodridge's, Pierre's, Allen's, Taylor's, and Minor’s amongst others and your corrupt foreign investors, that you do not view Liberia as an inheritance from your father and that you are "leaving the people thing alone". It is time for you, Mr. Taylor, to go. It is also regretful that Ghana did not live up to its international obligations. Exactly the Ghanaian fear, I believe, is now a reality. Charles Taylor has failed miserably to bring any good to the people of Liberian. For the good of the Country, PLEASE RESIGN, MR. TAYLOR. You and your cohorts, in the likes of the Urey's, Goodridge's, Cooper’s, Shaw’s amongst others are a disgrace to Liberia. What have you all accomplished? You constantly blame the international community for the lack of development in Liberia, especially since your incumbency; however, it is your lack of vision, patriotism and a sound economic agenda that have us in this mess. Mr. Taylor, you credibility is lost, Please Leave, If You Truly Love Liberia.

To those who believe the government of Ghana did the right thing by not arresting Mr. Taylor, as their international obligation dictated, I beg to differ. And believe me, there is nothing emotional in my statement, as I have thought it through. Here lies the problem:

  1. The Opposition is in disarray, with some of them purposely supported by the Taylor regime in order to confuse and make chaotic the situation in an attempt to sustain Taylor.
  2. The (then) Vice President had a duty of assuming the reigns of government, since, the President, now a War Criminal, lacked any credibility in leading the country. (Yes, I know what you all are saying; this is Liberia and Africa, yeah right). But this is what leadership is all about. It is not a piece of cake, and if you are leader, you have an obligation to do the right thing, no matter the consequences.
  3. After the arrest of Mr. Taylor, I believe, what remained of the Liberian government would have been pressured to negotiate a reasonable settlement. (Despite what was rumored to have been said by Chukie Taylor, I believe, there would have been some consensus with the remnant, in order to save their dear skin.)
  4. The international community, especially through the United States and ECOWAS, should stated in no uncertain terms to the LURD and MODEL, that their campaign needed to stopped immediately. And, anything contrary to that, they would follow Taylor to Freetown.
  5. Moreover, the opposition should have, if necessary gotten down on their knees to plead for a international stabilizing force, while an independent individual would be agreed upon to serve as interim administrator.

These are some of things that I believe should have been done. Now, with Ghana sending Taylor back to Liberia, the inevitable was or should have been expected. REVENGE and RETRIBUTION, due to the shame that had been placed on him. Knowing that his back is now against the wall, what do he care, all Taylor wants to be is President of Liberia. And he will do anything and everything to maintain his presidency. According to AllAfrica.com, Mr. Taylor is quoted to have said that his indictment and subsequent arrest could "set(s) an unhealthy precedent…" What else could you expect from Taylor. If nothing is done to Mr. Taylor, then there is nothing left but total Damnation to the Liberian people and Africa. Nothing can be far from the truth, if Mr. Taylor is not made an example. It is about time African leaders get from behind their "African Tradition" and be Realist. African Leaders and in particular, Mr. Taylor must face Justice, for what he has done to the Liberian People, Sierra Leone and the sub-region. This will send a clear and unequivocal message to ALL, that Justice awaits those who wish to circumvent the Law.

LURD and MODEL also, need to be indicated for war crimes. Their employ of child soldiers is the same as Charles Taylor. Moreover, LURD and MODEL are no different from the current administration. They all have no agenda and serious plans for Liberia, other then satisfying themselves with the wealth of the country. Who are the leaders of these organizations and what is their mission? If it is just Charles Taylor, then they are missing the point, while suffering the entire Liberian population for their personal gain.

Its about time Liberian politicians put aside their differences and think of LIBERIA first and not their EGOS, PRIDE and NEED TO ENRICH THEMSELVES.

Mr. Taylor needs to resign immediately and LURD AND MODEL must cease hostilities, and the same with Taylor's group. The Rebels are no different from Taylor and they all must be indicted for war crimes. Liberia politician need to call on the UN to run Liberia temporarily until things can come to some normality. Then can general elections be held and may the best person win. However, the UN, United States of America and Europe must intervene immediately and run Liberia as a protectorate or trustee. At the same time we LIBERIANS must learn to get our act together and think seriously about OUR COUNTRY.

It Time for Liberian to Stand Up for Their Country and for a moment forget any the parties and beer drinking sessions. Lets be responsible and take control of Our Beloved Land. (Back to top)
