The
Way to Lasting Peace in Liberia

The question is whether if
peace returns to Liberia as all hope, it will be durable or might
just be a recess for another round of violence. It is this debate on
whether or not there will be lasting peace in Liberia following the
Accra Peace Agreement that I want to make a contribution to this
morning. Therefore, I will speak to you this morning on the topic: The
Way to Lasting Peace in Liberia
|
WHAT
DOES TOM KAMARA WANT?
Tom has been one of the
most consistent critics of Charles Taylor. Now that Taylor is out and the
interim leader is finally put forward, it will be better for him to join
others to work with Chairman Bryant in whichever capacity possible so that
the desired result may be achieved.

A
REPLY TO LIBERIA'S CRY
Until
you see a need for change, you can't create a change. The political and
socio-economic mal-experiences faced by Liberians with the statecraft of
former president Charles Taylor, have surpassingly brightened our sights,
quenched our thirsts and filled our guts.

THE
DAY THAT WILL LIVE FOREVER IN OUR MEMORY
Monday
August 11, 2003 will be remembered as a historic day in Liberia and indeed
in Africa-seeing an African leader resigning under whatever condition. In
Africa, we fight to the last because we don't want to accept defeat even
if we cannot win. (CONTINUE)
WE WANT
PEACE NO MORE WAR
Message...As
we watched history unfolded today, Mr. Charles G. Taylor, former President
of Liberia, boarded a Nigerian aircraft today, presumably heading for
Nigeria, which will be his new home away from home. Since Mr. Taylor is no
longer in Liberia, let's continue to pray for the restoration of the long
lost peace that our people have yearned for over the past 14 years. Let us
begin the healing process.....

Sometime ago Limany came out with a project of sending relief items to
our people in Liberia. This was greeted with enthusiasm as folks pledged
from everywhere. The project as conceived was considered by all to be good
and deserving of our supports. That is the good news. The bad news is that
the amount generated so far has not matched the amount pledged. This shows
that several things have happened:........

The peace attained thus far has come a

particular religious principle such as Islam, Christianity, or Atheism has
no basis in history hence we should not allow ourselves to be destroyed
for such meanless issues that will benefit nobody in anyway.
