TRIBALISM
VS. PEACE, WHICH WAY LIBERIANS?
(LIMANY
EDITORIAL)
There
is so much to do in postwar Liberia if we are to achieve genuine peace,
and reconciliation. The task at hand is so huge, given the fact that
Liberia is still a tensely divided country on factional and ethnic
lines. One of the challenging aspects of this is the persistent
attitude of tribal prejudice and xenophobia exhibited by most Liberians.
Almost always, the Mandingoes are the targets of this ugly attitude and
we have seen it too many times before and now.

fears” by its framers.
Although Kromah, a former rebel leader, did not pinpoint the “selfish
interest and petty fears”. He observed that the immigration policy of
the Government is always pursuing one group of people, meaning ethnic
group.
AN
ORGANIZATION FOR THE PROMOTION OF MANDINGOES’ SOCIAL

interests in the country.

Turay and approve of the new direction taken by LIMANY’S board. About
40% of them are females and a majority attribute their renew interests
in LIMANY, to the fact that the president, Mr. Abraham Turay personally

“all Liberian Mandingoes, irrespective of religious beliefs are
eligible to join LIMANY.” Any Liberian Mandingo who is a New York

THE
AKOSOMBO TALKS – HOW LONG WILL THE CIRCUS CONTINUE?
Were
Liberians like many other nationalities or peoples around the world that
“truly” love their respective countries, there’s no telling that
our war-torn nation would be enjoying some semblance of peace and
stability by now as opposed to continually engaging in senseless wars

untold misery and hopelessness.
But, I guess, we [Liberians] are just of a very different breed
of humans or mankind!
